is the Australian husband and wife team of Gary and Paula Constant. On the 1st of August, 2004, they left London from Trafalgar square to walk to Cape Town in South Africa. It is a distance of over 10,500 miles, and has been four years in the planning.

Incredible. A friend of mine and I set out to go on a 24 hour walk (8 hours in one direction, 8 hours rest wherever we stopped, and 8 hours back), but it turned out rather, erm, failed, albeit interesting.

don't mean to be jerk or anything, but they are taking a ferry from Spain to Morocco. Isn't that cheating?

Well, they couldn't pick a nicer destination but why wouldn't they go all the way to Cape Agulhas, which is the southernmost point on the African continent?

cck, it would be cheating if they were in some kind of distance walking competition but since they're doing it on their own, for themselves, I doubt they'd consider it cheating.

From the diary it looks as if they are doing 20-30 km/day. This must take a huge amount of discipline. I've actually been to M'Hamid (the end of the first leg). It's very hot, and in the middle of nowhere.
