Is Bush REALLY an animatronic robot? Or are these photos implying something else? Like maybe a few journalists/photographers took a few shortcuts? In any case, the article gave me a good laugh.

Now that the meme's established, you just know that snappers will try to get pics of Bush in that pose, and that picture editors will gladly act as co-conspirators... posted by holgate at 12:10 PM on December 30, 2000
Anyone found a link for all of the pictures mentioned in the article? posted by ookamaka at 2:09 PM on December 30, 2000
Dude...... That's not a robot. That boy is stoned. He's chillin with the wacky weed. posted by y6y6y6 at 5:05 PM on December 30, 2000
Bush isn't really an animatronic robot. He only plays one on TV. posted by kindall at 7:37 PM on December 30, 2000
He still looks more lifelike than AG2K. Besides, whoever programmed Shrub did a lot better job than the team who built the Gorebot. When they constructed Bush's memories, they kept them as simple as possible. Team AG2K implanted their candidate with too many conflicting memories. posted by harmful at 7:22 AM on December 31, 2000
jjg, that's brilliant. I love the "Bush looks on" captions, as well: from my perspective, he looks more like he's on standby. posted by holgate at 3:11 AM on January 2, 2001
