Vitaflo 8. Respect. Lines and Colours. Hidden (from me at least) elements. From this eye (the left one) it is an expansive and daring, maybe refreshing, use of colour. Blew me away really. Also: Vitaflo turns four soon. Like I was saying: Respect.

Doesn't work (actively refuses) with NN 4.7 - is it really worth upgrading for? posted by andrew cooke at 11:22 PM on April 30, 2001
Okay, that's bad. Vitaflo. It is Vitaflo. I am truly sorry for both times. Stupid. If whoever fixes those things could fix those things for me, that would be so nice. Thank you. posted by bruyneel at 11:23 PM on April 30, 2001
ok, K-Meleon's pretty cool. thanks, hobbes. but did i really need to upgrade for a bunch of lines? is that really possible in old browsers? ;-/ (back in NN to post as k-meleon seems to ignore cookies...) posted by andrew cooke at 4:39 AM on May 1, 2001

Friends don't let friends use NN 4.7. Hell, I wouldn't suggest my enemies use it, either. For crissakes, man, ugrade to something. posted by lizardboy at 5:04 AM on May 1, 2001
I'm certainly not trying to be rude, but at the same time, I thought that it's about time to move away from non-standards compliant browsers...at least on my personal sites. I hate "this site does not support this browser" messages as much as anyone else, but I personally feel it might be about the right time to use a browser that's less than 3 years old. These are just my personal opinions of course (YMMV).
Anyway, as for the site itself....For those that like it, thank you. For those that don't, thank you. Better to get some sort of reaction or comment, than nothing at all. posted by vitaflo at 8:38 AM on May 1, 2001
are we supposed to hassle anyone who forgets to close a table tag as well?
Yes. Forgetting to close table tags has nothing to do with standards compliance and everything to do with stupidity. If you're going to render your site invisible to a segment of the Internet population, at least do it intentionally and with "good" reason. posted by Danelope at 9:09 AM on May 1, 2001

All I see is a bunch of colored lines. I was doing that on my TRS-80 back in 1984.
10 pmode 4,1:screen 1,1:pcls
20 for x = 0 to 128
40 line (0,x) - (255,x),pset
50 color rnd(4),0
60 next x
100 goto 100
Am I missing something here? Is there something else or did the emperor just get another new suit? posted by bondcliff at 11:27 AM on May 1, 2001
Vitaflo - I may not know art, but I know what I like. Your site ain't it. I'm glad I didn't "upgrade" at home just to see a bunch of lines (had to check it at werk). Thanks for nothing. posted by Lynsey at 12:17 PM on May 1, 2001
What does it do? I just see lines. I click, nothing happens. I view source - still don't get it. What am I missing? posted by annathea at 12:47 PM on May 1, 2001
Well, I guess there is very faint movement/color change within the lines, though that could just be an acid flashback. Overall, I love the colours, but I'm afraid I'm still with the "don't get it" crowd. posted by annathea at 12:51 PM on May 1, 2001
Seems like everyone expects it to "do" something... maybe you're supposed to do something with it?

Lynsey, You're welcome.
Also I'd like to point out, right now if you're on IE5.0 PC the links don't work. It's in the way I coded it. I need to change that, but I don't have FTP access available right now.
As far as what it does and what you may or may not be missing, just take away from it what you want, and leave the rest (but I do like canoeguide's adventurous spirit). posted by vitaflo at 2:27 PM on May 1, 2001

Thanks Vitaflo. I agree that people should be updating their web browsers. Is this worth updating for? Well, that’s a personal call naturally. From my perspective, if this is the only thing on the net would improve or that you would gain if you updated your browser I would say "Ok, no, see it from a friend's computer" I think that there would be a fair few benefits arising from an update, but again we may not share that view.

it's weird, but we've actually been working on the exact same thing over at K10k ... we just haven't found out what we were going to use it for ... it's a very lovely effect
mschmidt: Those pages are quite nice, it takes sometime to load (on a 56.6 kbps connection) but I like the fact that the animation is smooth and not something that would give someone a seizure. posted by riffola at 10:44 AM on May 2, 2001
for those of you who haven't solved (or aren't aware of) the vitaflo.com puzzle...pay attention to letters and numbers...there's an order to everything. if i can figure it out, so can you. and believe me...it's pretty cool and also rewarding. posted by jacobbailey at 5:16 PM on May 2, 2001
